Schwinn 860 Treadmill Review

A single glance at the features the Schwinn 860 Treadmill offers can sway even the pickiest customer in its favor. This powerful treadmill packs a punch with its 3.0 continuous-duty horsepower motor, spacious 20” x 58” walking and running surface, and twenty choices for workout programs, including your own customizable exercise routine. It offers speeds up to 12 miles per hour and an incline of up to 12% – not bad for a mid-priced treadmill.

A typical Schwinn 860 Treadmill review will give it plus points for having an optimally cushioned walking and running surface and a shock-absorbing deck. Its Softrak suspension deck makes it ideal for joggers recovering from joint injury. SoftDrop technology makes folding this treadmill a breeze. Its solid design and construction ensures that this machine is built to last.

Other great features Schwinn 860 Treadmill reviews applaud include its intuitive dual-screen console, its integrated grip and telemetric heart rate system, and the option to switch between mile and kilometer readouts. Other add-ons that make exercising on this machine even more convenient include a built-in cooling fan, a water bottle or cup holder and a magazine or book rack. The Schwinn 860 also has built-in transport wheels to facilitate moving whether the treadmill is folded or not. It runs smoothly and quietly, making it friendly to multi-tasking.

If you are looking to buy the Schwinn 860, the best price I have found is at amazon.com.  Click here to see the latest price.  Overall, it’s a great treadmill at a decent price – you save over $800 by buying from Amazon!

Sadly, like most Schwinn treadmills, the Schwinn 860 comes with a not-so-solid warranty, covering only 10 years on the motor and frame, a year on parts and electronics, 3 months on wear parts, and 3 months on labor. This is an unfortunate downside to this otherwise great machine, and discourages many would-be customers from going through with their purchase.

The manual that comes with it leaves much to be desired, as it is vague in most parts and in some even inaccurate. The treadmill’s on/off switch is also inconveniently located, although this is only a minor design issue. A bit of noise can be created sometimes by the plastic protection over the motor, which can scrape a bit on the belt, but this can be easily fixed with a quick adjustment.

The Schwinn 860 is a serious, straightforward exercise machine and doesn’t offer many luxury add-ons such as integrated speakers and iPod docks. It weighs over 250 pounds and may be difficult to move, but its weight adds plenty of stability, even at its maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds. Designed for the runner looking for plenty of variety, the Schwinn 860 offers more than the average treadmill’s options for weight loss, cardio, speed and hill training, and user-specific workouts.
